The United States will ban night-time driving for people of these ages, who will not be allowed to drive without meeting a fundamental requirement

Find out who this strict road safety measure applies to. The Washington State Department of Licensing specifies on its official website the driving requirements that minors under the age of 18 must meet after applying for their first driving licence. Although 16- and 17-year-old residents may apply for this permit if they meet a series of necessary conditions, after the first year of obtaining this document, strict driving rules must be followed to avoid problems with the authorities. One of these conditions details the hours during which driving without an accompanying person who meets the required criteria will be prohibited.

Driving at night is prohibited for those of this age who do not meet a requirement

The state stipulates that all 16- and 17-year-olds are prohibited from driving between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. alone for one year.

Only those who are accompanied by another driver with a driving licence and over the age of 25 may drive during these hours.

‘If you drive safely for one year, the night-time driving restrictions will expire,’ say the authorities.

In the event of a violation of this restriction, the minor’s parents will be notified the first time. If the violation is repeated, the driving licence may be suspended for six months or until the driver reaches the age of 18, whichever comes first.

Other prohibitions that all these drivers have

According to the details provided by the authorities, during the first 6 months after obtaining their driving licence, they will not be allowed to drive with passengers under the age of 20, unless they are immediate family members.

During the remaining 6 months of the year after obtaining their licence, they may also not travel with more than 3 passengers under the age of 20 who are not immediate family members.

Finally, the use of any type of wireless device while driving is prohibited, even if it has a hands-free function.
