The washing machine is one of the most used appliances in the home, so over time, it accumulates detergent residue, limescale and moisture. This builds up inside and in the pipes, so it is advisable to give it a good clean. Experts on the subject have a simple and economical trick to get rid of bad odours and dirt residues that accumulate with each wash in the drum and filter of the appliance.
Cleaning vinegar is the key to making this trick work, as it not only removes soap residue that sticks to the machine, but also disinfects and deodorises it, leaving your washing machine as good as new. For this method to be truly effective, the secret is to run a wash cycle without clothes at a high temperature with a generous amount of vinegar. Pour 400 cc of this ingredient into all compartments of the washing machine and set the wash cycle between 60 and 90 degrees.

Some appliances have a ‘drum cleaning’ option, which can be selected to do the job. After washing, the vinegar will act as a powerful descaler and disinfectant, removing stuck-on detergent residue.
When the vinegar cleaning cycle is complete, open the filter to allow the accumulated residue to escape. It is recommended that you place a towel on the floor, as there will be water residue. Finally, wipe the inside of the drum with a cloth to complete the cleaning and remove any residue.
